The most beautiful love story ever told will grace the stage at the Brighton Center for Performing Arts this spring.
The Brighton High School Musical Theater program announced that this year's musical production will be Beauty & The Beast after the Brighton Choirs fall concert on Oct. 25.
Every year, the show is kept under wraps until the big revealing in order to build suspense for the season. The show is announced through video, which can be seen at www.brightonmusical.com.
Musical Theater Technical Director Josh Holowicki said the kids were really excited about it.
Holowicki said they chose Beauty & The Beast to follow last year's production of Legally Blonde: The Musical because of its unique qualities.
"It's a fantasy story with a great moral principle behind it," he said. "Plus it's so well known, has a broad audience in terms of age range and will just be a fun show to do. Additionally, we feel it will showcase well the talents of our entire team."
Holowicki said this show will be very different from Legally Blonde.
"We also have some technological tricks up our sleeves to pull off some of the 'Magic' that happens in this show to bring the fantasy to life," he said.
Auditions will be held the first week of January, after the students return from Christmas break. Rehearsals will begin immediately following selection of the cast.
Show dates are set for April 26-28 and May 2-5 at the Brighton Center for Performing Arts.
