School Board Special Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Elimination of 3 Administrators

A special meeting for Brighton Area Schools Board of Education will take place at 7 p.m. on April 29.

Brighton Area Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting on April 29 to recommend the approval of three staff reductions.

According the the school board agenda, in accordance with the district's deficit elimination plan, Central Administration is recommending the elimination of three administrators, but are not performance related.

Layoff notices have already gone out to the three administrators being considered:

  • Hornung Elementary Principal Susan Johnson 
  • Maltby Assistant Principal Jeff Eisele 
  • Brighton Community Education Director Anne Renne

The layoffs will save $312,279, according to a previous report.

Earlier this week, the Michigan Department of Education rejected Brighton School's revised deficit-elimination plan, according to the Press and Argus. A meeting between school and state officials has been scheduled for May 2.
