Coach's Corner: Brighton Girls Basketball Continue Six Game Winning Streak

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Grand Blanc Tuesday night for their sixth straight win.

The Brighton Girls Basketball Team won their sixth straight game by beating Grand Blanc 56 to 44 on Tuesday.  

This was a hard fought win for Brighton as Grand Blanc made several runs throughout the game. The Bulldogs were able to answer every run of the Bobcats with a run of their own to eventually pull away in the second half.

The Bulldogs were only up two points midway through the second quarter but finished the quarter by scoring eight straight points to lead by 10 at the half.

In the second half, Grand Blanc would close the gap to within four points but the Dogs eventually took control of the game with better defense to pull away.

After giving up 28 points in the first half, Brighton held Grand Blanc to 16 points in the second half.

Leading the Bulldogs were Courtney Murphy scoring 14 points and Karly Bender and Laura Taylor adding 11 and 10 points respectively. Natalie Schroeder lead the team in rebounding with seven. The win moved the Bulldogs record to 6-1 (2-0 in KLAA league play).

The girls Junior Varsity team won their game 62-38 while the freshmen won 26-21.

The Bulldogs are right back in action on Thursday when they host cross-town rival Howell Highlanders. Freshman and Junior Varsity will play at 5:30 p.m. while the Varsity team plays at 7 p.m.
