Re-live Michigan’s Colonial times, from 1700 through 1796, at “Colonial Kensington,” on Saturday and Sunday, August 13 and 14, at Kensington Metropark, near Milford/Brighton.
All activities take place in the picnic area north of Martindale Beach, with parking available at the north parking lot of Martindale Beach. Re-enactors will be setting up camps on Friday after noon.
“Colonial Kensington” will be open from 9 am to 6 pm on Saturday, and from 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

Highlights of the weekend include:
- More than 200 costumed American Indian, French, British and American re-enactors representing the years 1700-1796.
- 18th century merchants selling authentic and reproduction home decorations, clothing and toys
- Battle and tactical demonstrations toward the end of each day; musket and cannon firings both days.
- A variety of 18th century crafts and demonstrations throughout each day including carpentry, medicine, blacksmith, tinsmith, candle making, cooking, quilting, sewing, woodcarving and storytelling.

Individuals needing assistance in order to participate in these programs should contact the interpretive center at least 72 hours prior to the program.
A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark which is only $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually for seniors, or $5 daily.
