Summer Celebration

The Waterloo State Recreation Area is kicking off summer with a celebration for the whole family.  Plenty of events taking place all day long, including Tomahawk Throwing, Bloodhound Demonstration, Kayak Tour, and Vessel Safety Check.  Three Rec 101 programs are also happening:  Archery, Fishing, and Stargazing (at dusk) where all the gear, guides, and good times will be provided for FREE to help you learn a new recreation activity.  Last but not least, kids of all ages are invited to take place in a Fun Run starting at 11 am at the campground host's site.

Everything takes place at the Portage Lake Unit, 11500 Seymour Road between Mt. Hope & Race Roads in Grass Lake.  Individual activity times vary - contact the park if there is something specific you absolutely don't want to miss out on.

This event is FREE and no registration is required.  A Recreation Passport is required for vehicles entering the park.  The Recreation Passport has replaced motor vehicle permits for entry into Michigan State Parks and is available when renewing your license tabs at the Secretary of State or any park office.
