Dionysus Theatre Will Present Original Holiday Musical!

It's about time! Dionysus Theatre and Performing Arts Academy will present our first full musical production in December! Auditions in Brighton!

Hey everybody...long time, no blog!

I guess it's past time for an update on Dionysus Theatre!  I'm very happy to let you all know that we have found a temporary space that is going to allow us to finally entertain Livingston County by presenting our first production, Home for the Holidays!

Long story short, our plans to open in Brighton didn't work out, and we've had to continue looking for a possible venue in Livingston County.  The good news is, we've been able to work out a deal with Hartland Community Ed to use the beautiful new auditorium at the new Hartland High School.  We couldn't be happier to be able to begin producing full, professional productions in Livingston County while we continue to search for our permanent home.

Home for the Holidays is an original musical you won't see anywhere else.  The story was written right here in Livingston County this past summer by myself, The Dio's Business Director, Matthew Tomich, and one of my best friends from New York, professional actress, Amy Smidebush.

Tickets will be on sale soon, and auditions are coming up very quickly.  We will hold our auditions at Michelle's Academy of Dance and Performing Arts Center (MADPAC) at 101 Appian Way, Suite 104 in Brighton.  Open auditions for performers 18 and older will take place on Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 from 7pm to 10pm.  You can get full audition details by visiting our website at www.diotheatre.com.

Home for the Holidays will run from December 7 through December 23.  More information on the show is available on our website, or you can call our ticket office at (517) 672-6009.  We have a lot of fun stuff planned for this production, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on our progress here!  I also intend to attempt a weekly video blog on our website, so be sure to check that out as well.

We've been working on opening The Dio since 2011, and we are beyond excited to finally be working on our first production!  We can't wait to meet the theatre lovers of Livingston County!

Check out a brief synopsis of Home for the Holidays below!  See you in December!

When the cast of Home for the Holidays gathers for their Christmas Eve performance, Stage Manager, Nick and his wife expect a smooth evening of seasonal fun.  What they get is a leading lady who has locked herself in her dressing room, her understudy who isn’t quite up to the job, and a leading man whose holiday spirit is closer to that of the Grinch than Kris Kringle.  This original musical takes you backstage with the cast, as Nick tries to reinstate their faith in the holidays with a lot of Christmas spirit and a touch of magic.  The whole family will love this salute to family and friends, and good old fashioned, holiday joy!  Featuring over 20 of your favorite holiday tunes, you’re guaranteed to leave the theatre singing the praises of being “home for the holidays”!
