If you're looking for an affordable camp with stellar programs, check out Camp Westminster on Higgins Lake in Roscommon, MI. They offer huge session variety: sailing, rock climbing, backpacking, high ropes, fishing, archery--and they are RIGHT on the shore of Higgins Lake. I went there as a camper and served as a counselor, and their alumni/parent/camper engagement is wonderful! www.campwestminster.com

Another great camp is Bohemian Adventure. Bohemian Adventure is Michigan's only adventure travel camp. Campers 9-15 years old spend four days connecting with nature as they bike from Kalamazoo to the Lake Michigan coast via the Kal-Haven trail. During their session, campers will experience survival challenges, team building and leadership exercises, outdoor cooking, and wilderness education. To participate campers must provide their own bicycle, helmet and tent. Amazingly affordable and voted best value summer program in West Michigan. More info at campkzoo.com
