Brighton Area Schools Bond Update

The new equipment ranges from iPads, Macs, Chromebooks, Dell Laptops, projection equipment, Smart Boards, and flat screen televisions.

This semester starts the piloting of the new technological equipment. The new equipment ranges from iPads, Macs, Chromebooks, Dell Laptops, projection equipment, Smart Boards, and flat screen televisions. The reason for the piloting is to test out the possible technologies BHS classrooms can see within the next few years as a result from the technology portion of our bond.  Teachers and students alike are going to be able to test these products to help get a feel on what they think will help them the most in the classroom for the upcoming years.  Back in December the teachers filled out the forms for which technologies were hopefully to be piloted for the last semester. However due to a slight push back for the Google Chromebooks during the holiday season, we were able to receive our technology now, even though it’s a bit later than planned.
Recently teachers have been starting to receive laptops for their classrooms and other pilot technologies.  Spanish teacher Lynette Daig and AP Stats teacher Theodore Buckless are piloting flat screen televisions in their rooms as an alternative to using projection screens to teach their lessons.  Buckless will also be receiving iPads in his class as a way for students to make videos on the different lessons they learn as an alternative to viewing the videos he puts up himself of the stats website.        World history teacher Shannon Forsberg is going to receive  Google Chromebooks from the media center to use as an alternative way to teach her lessons and have her students look up information.  Honors English teacher Krysia Alexander has one of the newest smart board called the Activboard 500 Pro to use as an alternative to the regular whiteboard for presentations and note taking.
With all of the new technologies being piloted, BHS will definitely be benefiting now and for the future.  All of the new introduced technology will help this school be brought up to date in the technological world as well as stay up to date with other schools.
